Additional Driver Policy

Additional driver charge is: Euro 4.17 per day, plus tax, Euro 20.50 per week, plus tax, Euro 41.00 per month, plus tax 

Age Requirements

Minimum rental age is 19 years for all car categories except for groups IWMR, ICMR, FCAR, PCAR, FVMR, PVMR & FWAR which require a minimum rental age of 25 years. Maximum age is 75. A Young Drivers Surcharge applies to all renters of 19/20 years of EUR 10.85 + VAT per day and 21/23 years of EUR 5.16 + VAT per day.

Cross Border Policy

Vehicles are allowed to cross the borders of the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Luxemburg, Norway, Netherlands, Portugal, United Kingdom, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

Licence Requirements

An original and valid driving licence must be presented at the start of the rental. Non-Roman script licences must have an international licence & their licence from country of domicile. The licence must have been held for at least one year. Military driving licences are not allowed. International driving licenses are required for renters who present a non - EU driving licence. International Driving licenses are only valid outside the country of origin and when presented along with the original driving licence.

One Way Rentals

Domestic One -way rentals are permitted within Italy, and cost as follows:-

Within Italian Mainland to Mainland / Sicily to Sicily / Sardinia to Sardinia  :     Euro 40.00  per rental - plus VAT

From Italian Mainland to Sicily & vice versa:                                                      Euro 53.00  per rental - plus VAT

Intra-city one ways are free of charge. 

Domestic One Ways From Italian Mainland or Sicily to Sardinia & vice versa is no longer allowed for all car groups.

Groups FVMR, PVMR, &  FWAR may only be used for Domestic one ways between locations from which they are available and these groups cannot be used for International one-ways.

Group Y (FWAR) is available for both pick-up and drop-off only in: Milan, Venice, Pisa, Florence, Rome, Naples, Catania and Palermo locations.

Groups H (PCAR), J (FVMR) and M (PVMR) for Alamo are available for both pick-up and drop-off only in: Milan, Venice, Pisa, Florence, Rome, Naples, Catania, Palermo, Verona, Turin, Genoa, Bergamo, Bologna and Lamezia locations. 

For Alamo only there is a 3 day minimum length of rental required for all one ways.

International One Ways - please consult the International One Way Policy (IOWP). These groups are not allowed for International One Way rentals PCAR, FVMR, PVMR and FWAR.

Out of Hours Policy

Out of hours pick up and drop off- if an employee is needed, the charge will be EUR 25.82 per rental. Pick up will be at an airport agency, flight details must be supplied, request through reservations

Payment Policy

No Cash payments allowed. All major Credit Cards accepted - For a car with an engine size 1.8 & over, customer must show  2xcredit cards or Business credit card or American Express Gold  or American Express/ Diners which has been issued for at least 2 years.  The deposit held on the customers credit card amounts to the estimated total rental charge plus 50% of theft and collision deductibles.

Refuelling Policy

Car is supplied with a full tank, return full or a refuelling charge of EUR 12.92 + VAT will apply + cost of missing petrol

Special Equipment

Child/Infant seat CSI = Euro 35.83 per rental.

Child/Toddler seat CST= Euro 35.83 per rental. 

Booster Cushion BST = Euro 35.83 per rental. 

Snow chains SNO= Euro 29.17 per rental (available all year round)

Ski rack SKV= Euro 30.83 per rental.

All Special Equipment is on freesale and is subject to 20% tax.

All cars will be equipped with a reflective jacket which must be worn in an emergency else a fine will be levied. There is no extra charge for the use of this but if not returned then 18 Euros will be charged.

Also available is the GPS Navigation Device at a cost of Euro 6.40 per day + VAT.

GPS Navigation cannot be confirmed at the time of the reservation but it can be requested at pick-up time and one way is not available.

In case of damage or theft there will be a penalty charge of Euro 649.00 + VAT

Surcharges

Premium Location charge is 15% + tax for all airport locations (except for Cagliari Elmas Airport CAGT71/01 where the charge is 9% + tax) and 8% + tax for all Railway locations. Premium Location fees surcharges applies on all charges, excluding fuel. Vehicle licence fee / Road fund tax is Euro 1.43 per day + tax, with a maximum charge 18 days = EUR 25.74 + tax.  Contract Mandated Charge: An Administration handling fee of EUR 30.00 + VAT is applicable in the event of a car accident that the renter is responsible for.

Insurances & Waivers:

CDW – Collision Damage Waiver

Collision Damage waiver is mandatory and may not be substituted by credit card coverage.  CDW reduces the renters financial liability in the event of damage to all or part of the vehicle to the deductible amount

The deductible on CDW is exempt from VAT.

PTI1– Personal Travel Insurance

PTI - Personal Travel Insurance: Luggage stolen or damaged in a collision is covered up to the sum of Euro 1,032.91  and up to the sum of Euro 258.23 in the case of theft or bag-snatching. Also, covered up to sum of Euro 516.46, are items of sports equipment (bicycles, surf boards,etc.) which are secured to the outside of the vehicle. Luggage and personal effects are not covered if they are stolen from an unlocked vehicle or if stolen between the hours of 22:00 and 06:00 when the vehicle is unguarded.

PTI also covers Personal Civil Liability. If, during the rental period the hirer or additional driver(s) and relatives travelling with them, accidently cause damage to a third party, they are insured up to a maximum sum of Euro 51,645.69.  PTI is subject to 20% VAT.  For an extra day PTI - 4.77

SKO1 – Superkasco

Superkasco allows to totally eliminate excess damage. In case of accident it waives the CDW deductible only. SKO rates are subject to 20% VAT. The deductible is zero except for locations in:  Bari, Brindisi, Caserta, Campobasso-Ripalimosani, Foggia, Isernia, Lecce, Naples, Pozzuoli, Salerno Taranto and Termoli where the deductible is reduced as follows: Euro 100.00 for groups ECMR, EDMR, CCMR & CWMR. Euro 200.00 for groups IXMR, IWMR, ICMR, FCAR, PCAR,FWAR, PVMR and FVMR.

SKO rates are subject to 20% VAT.

STK

STK is an Insurance Package that includes both SKO (superkasko) and STP (super theft). It allows to totally eliminate (or partially eliminate in certain areas) excess both for damage and theft. As per SKO and STP it is not applicable when due to the driver's negligence; the excess is zero except for locations in: Bari, Brindisi, Caserta, Campobasso-Ripalimosani, Foggia, Isernia, Lecce, Naples, Pozzuoli, Salerno Taranto and Termoli where the deductibles are only reduced as for SKO and STP.

Third Party Liability

Third Party Cover is up to at least 1 million EUR

TP1 –Theft Protection

TP reduces the renters financial liability in the event of the vehicle's theft or fire.  In all cases of total or partial theft the customer must contact local police and give a copy of the police report to Maggiores nearest location.

TP rates are subject to 20% VAT.

STP – Super Theft Protection

STP - Super Theft Protection allows to totally eliminate theft excess payable on ordinary theft protectio (TP1).  STP have no effect or validity if the keys of the rented vehicle are not returned.  STP rates are subject to 20% VAT.   The deductible is zero except for locations in:  Bari, Brindisi, Caserta, Campobasso-Ripalimosani, Foggia, Isernia, Lecce, Naples, Pozzuoli, Salerno Taranto and Termoli where the deductible is reduced as follows: Euro 200.00 for groups ECMR, EDMR, CCMR, CWMR, IXMR, IWMR and ICMR.  Euro 400.00 for groups SDMR,  FCAR, PCAR, FWAR, PVMR and FVMR

STP rates are subject to 20% VAT.

TPL – Third Party Liability

The Third Party Liability Insurance policy on Maggiore Rent vehicles guarantees, free of charges, insurance coverage for civil liability towards third parties and others (including individuals transported), as well as animals and objects (excluding objects transported, with a maximum of Euro 15,000,000.00
